As I said in class, I do not think Intelligent Design is a viable scientific body of research. The alternative it presents is not one based on best contemporary science. In the context of public school science education in the US, the agenda is definitely pro-Christian with a peculiar evangelical viewpoint.

If you would like to see an excellent explanation of evolutionary biology as well the significant theoretical, empirical, and logical problems with Intelligent Design, please consider looking into Ken Miller's work, including this lecture he gave a few years back.
